A Pub on the Wagon
'One For The Road' and 'He's On The Wagon' born here
Location: 66 Bayswater Road, W2 3PH
Description: Now this is an elegant pub that dates back to the late 1700s - it even once served the 'Floral Tea Gardens', an 18th Century tourist attraction.
Back in the day it was also the last jail between the old jail at Notting Hill and the Hangman's Gallows at Marble Arch.
Legend has it that the cart that took the men condemned to death would often stop here so that the guilty could have one final drink before their time was up.
In fact the sayings 'One For The Road' and 'He's On The Wagon' actually came from this very boozer - what a pub!
