Noel Coward lived here

This was the London home of playwright Noel Coward.

Location: 111 Ebury Street, Pimlico

Description: This is where Noel Coward wrote The Vortex, the first play about drug addiction. Coward was to write: The Vortex was an immediate success and established me both as a playwright and an actor, which was fortunate, because until then I had not proved myself to be so hot in either capacity.

On the opening night in 1924, he cut his hand on prop bottles in the last scene and had to wrap a handkerchief around it to stem the flow of blood. As he took curtain calls, the handkerchief became redder and redder.

Now, this pleasant townhouse is the Noel Coward Hotel.
