A barbers with a secret
Karl Gustav Ernst - barber and German spy - hair was the key.
Location: 156 Caledonian Road, N1 9
Description: This modern office block at number 156 Caledonian Road just along side the bridge over the Regent cannel, stands on the site of a barbers shop that held a dark secret in 1910. Karl Gustav Ernst ran his barbers shop on this site, and although he made a living cutting hair he also had a side line. He would receive instructions and hair in the post, and would hand German agents their orders when they visited his barbers shop - part of a sinister spy ring.
