This is where the 'Daily Courant' was first published in 1702

Location: Fleet Street

Description: About 400 metres dowm from St.Pauls Cathedral there is a rectangular blue plaque on the wall by the junction which states that this is the site of London's first daily newspaper called the 'Daily Courant'.

It was first published on the 11th March 1702 and was a single sheet with two columns.

It was soon sold to Sam Buckley who moved it to Little Britain. Sam later became printer of the Spectator and in 1735 merged with the Daily Gazetteer.
