A Great Oak at Charing Cross

An Oak Tree at Charing Cross station since 1987

Location: Charing Cross

Description: In 1987 There was the worst storm in England since 1703. Winds of upto 120 mph were recorded and an estimated 15 million trees were blown down in this country.

A National appeal went out to plant new trees and the oak tree outside Charing Cross station was one of them.

It stands by a black phone box and a plaque on a nearby stone column gives details of the event.
