Location: Polygon Road, Euston, NW1 1SS

Description: This is where Frankenstein author Mary Shelley was born. It nestles in an area between Euston and King's Cross St Pancras called Somers Town.

Today it's a council flats block called Oakshott Court, but it used to be fabulously named Polygon Square (Shelley's parents owned number 29 Polygon Square).

Mary Wollstonecraft, writer, philosopher and feminist, lived here with her husband William Godwin.

Shelley was born here on the 30th August 1797. However Wollstonecraft died at the age of thirty-eight, ten days after giving birth to her second daughter, leaving behind several unfinished manuscripts.

In later life Mary Shelley lived in Chester Square.
