Description: The Ten Bells pub is infamous for its connection to the Jack the Ripper murders. purportedly the place where Jack picked up 2 of his victims; Catherine Eddowes and Elizabeth Stride.
The pub itself is known to date from at least 1752. From 1976 it was known as The Jack the Ripper but reverted to its original name in 1988 when people complained that it glorified violence to women, and indeed it did with newspaper reports on the walls and distasteful merchandise being sold in the Rippers name.
The Victorian tiling is all that remains of the old decor.
