George Bernard Shaw lived here

George Bernard Shaw lived here

George Bernard Shaw, the brilliant dramatist, lived here.

Location: 29 Fitzroy Square, W1T 6LQ

Description: At this address a Blue Plaque - one of many around the city of London - decorates the wall, but this one offers quite a proclamation.

'From the coffers of his genius he enriched the world'... nt it's not dedicated to U2's Bono, but, George Bernard Shaw of course.

Shaw was born on 26 July 1856, an Irishman who became a brilliant dramatist, literary critic, and socialist. During his life he wrote more than sixty plays, being uniquely honoured with both a Nobel Prize (1925) for his contribution to literature and an Oscar (1938) for 'Pygmalion'. He was a strong advocate for socialism and women's rights, a vegetarian and teetotaller, and a harsh critic of formal education.

Overall, a jolly good chap...although a drop of red wine would have only enriched his life.
